A new and growing ministry centered on creating community through travel. As we plan trips and travel in small groups, our goal is to be educated and transformed by people whose lives are different from their own. Our intention is to build mutual relationships in all the countries we visit and learn about the material conditions under which “most people” live.
Building on a previous connection between Saint Mark’s and Nicaragua, the ministry’s first trip was an 11-day journey to Nicaragua in 2010. Members of the group learned about coffee farming through home stays in the countryside, and heard directly from the Nicaraguan people of the impact of U.S. foreign and trade policies. Upon our return, we organized a speaker’s tour for one of the many dynamic people we encountered in Nicaragua.
Regular meetings are being held to plan the next trip to Nicaragua, with plans to include other nations, particularly in Africa, in the future.
